John A. McAuliffe is certified by the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also holds a Certificate of Added
Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Throughout
his career, he has focused his practice on surgery of
the elbow, forearm, wrist and hand, specializing
in the treatment of challenging problems including complex
fractures and joint injuries, arthritis, nerve disorders
and reconstruction following trauma.
Physician Bio
A Miami native, Dr. McAuliffe is a graduate of
Columbia University and the University of Florida
College of Medicine. Following internship and
orthopaedic residency at the University of Florida/
Shands Teaching Hospital, he completed a fellowship
in surgery of the hand at the University of
Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
He has served as Associate Professor of Orthopaedics
and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami
and Staff Physician at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
While at the Cleveland Clinic, he was Director of
Medical Student Education and Affiliate Professor of
Surgery at the University of South Florida. He
participates regularly on the faculty of instructional
courses and symposia for both physicians and
therapists throughout the nation.
Dr. McAuliffe is a member of the American
Medical Association, the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Society for
Surgery of the Hand. He is also a member and pastpresident
of the Florida Hand Society and the New Millennium Hand Study
Group. In recognition of his educational efforts
on behalf of allied health professions, he
has been named an honorary member of the
American Society of Hand Therapists.
Dr. McAuliffe has been
voted by his fellow
physicians for inclusion
into multiple major
reference directories,
including America’s Top
Doctors, Best Doctors in
America and Guide to
America’s Top Surgeons.
He is an Associate Editor
of the Journal of Hand
Surgery and serves on
the Editorial Board of the
Journal of Hand Therapy.
He has published nearly
fifty book chapters and
scientific papers and made
hundreds of educational
presentations for both
scientific and popular
audiences.
