Joint replacement, a surgical procedure to remove and replace an arthritic or damaged joint with an artificial joint (called a prosthesis), may be considered only after other treatment options have failed to provide adequate relief from pain and/or disability.
Here at Broward Health, our orthopedic physicians are recognized leaders in joint replacement surgery. Last year, our physicians performed 702 joint replacement procedures on Broward County residents – more than any other hospital or hospital system in Broward County.
Throughout Broward Health, we offer a comprehensive scope of joint replacement services including the new mini-incision hip replacement surgery, and gender-specific knee replacement for women as well as the - Oxford® partial knee replacement.
Two of our medical centers, Broward General and North Broward offer Anterior Hip Replacement Surgery. This procedure results in less pain, minimal scarring, a shorter hospital stay, more accurate leg length control, a quicker recovery and return to normal activities.
With any orthopedic procedure, follow-up and rehabilitation is key. Here at Broward Health we offer many rehabilitation programs whose main goal is to improve the lives of its patients and promote speedy recovery back to a state of independence.
