Care and Treatment

Broward Health offers a complete network for the diagnosis and care of injuries at locations throughout Broward. Advanced imaging services such as MRI, CT and PET scans are interpreted by radiologists with extensive experience in muskuloskeletal injuries. Sports medicine physicians provide the latest nonsurgical treatments as well as the most current, least invasive surgical methods.

Sports medicine therapists provide treatment for overuse conditions such as muscle strain, tendonitis, shin splints and tennis elbow.

Individual Attention

Sports medicine athletic trainers develop individualized programs to help athletes of all ages get back in the game. They provide recommendations for taping, padding and bracing and prescribe conditioning programs to help strengthen the athlete.

Broward Health offers sports medicine programs at: Broward General Medical Center, Broward Health Weston and Coral Springs Medical Center.

For more than 10 years, Drs. Daniel Kanell, George Caldwell and Erol Yoldas have been the primary physicians for the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins. They also serve as team physician for three local high schools to help ensure the health and safety of student athletes. “We work closely with each school, educating trainers and consulting with them about injured players. We also attend the games to treat on-the-spot injuries when possible,” said Caldwell. On the collegiate level, they are involved with Nova Southeastern University, teaching sports medicine fellows and physician assistants. View their website »
